Atmosphere: A Future Design Experiment
Architectural Pavilion

Melbourne Design Week 2019

Supported by the National Gallery of Victoria

Inspired by sauna culture, the work was designed as a space for social gathering, contemplation and relaxation.

An architectural pavilion was erected in the centre of an amphitheater, immersed within a circular body of water. Visitors were invited to take off their shoes and walk through the water in order to reach the structure; themselves becoming a theatrical element of the work, as they embarked upon a journey guided by various sensory elements.

Exhibited as a part of Melbourne Design Week 2019, the work was activated for a period of 24-hours with an arts and culture program incorporating performance art, music, sensory experiences, tea ceremonies, and ceremonial rituals.

A collaboration with Fresh Prince Studio & Collective Futures.
